Happy Birthday, Dad

Today would have been my Dad's 78th birthday. I though for sure he'd still be here until he was 80, because he was tough like that. But, then, nobody really gets to call their home-going day. And he wasn't exactly on a healthy diet, and never quite quit smoking, except for those 5 months after his bypass at age 60, which he only survived by a miracle. I haven't done much better in that regard, except for avoiding all things smoking related. A month before he left for his Heavenly Home, his old high school friend and Marine Corps buddy, George came for a visit, and they drove to the top of Pikes Peak! I miss my old man, the engineer, DIYer, perpetual farm boy, and Marine very much, especially in the fall...Semper Fi and enjoy your much earned home in Heaven. See you there when the time is right. Wish I could fill the hole left in our family.
