SO, What's New?

I've had several people ask, and write recently about "what's new?"

Well, of course, school is out...yea! In fact, it has been out for four almost weeks already. We took a trip to California, took the kids to the San Diego Wild Animal Park, and spent time with friends and family. Then I led a week of Camp Invention see
http://waltpub.com/chey.pdf for a nice article about that, for as long as they leave it posted.

The extreme home makeover continues...we have gotten the windows all replaced, and the siding all done, but are waiting to pant it until the garage gets done. That was supposed to be done by the end of July, but...we are now in a 6 week variance process. We found out we have to get a variance to build our attached garage to replace the carport we had torn down while we were in CA. OOOpps! Wish we had known that before we agreed to have it demolished!!! Actually, we had the demolition done while on our California trip, because that was when the kids and us would be completely out of the way. The house does look quite different now, though.

Besides all that, we are planning another road trip, this one to IL, MI and OK. Mostly this one will be about seeing some relatives and old friends and visiting some family heritage sites. It was a trip we had planned last summer to include my dad, but alas....

Back on the school front, my school is closing, but not for another year. So, in the meantime, I will be teaching 5th grade there. The superintendent has given me assurances that I will be able to stay in fifth grade when I transfer, and that I might even be able to transfer into the school of my choice in our district. (We will only have 5 elementary schools to choose from in Cheyenne Mountain D-12 after Canon closes.) So, overall, that is good news.

Other than that, it's summer. We are spending time at the pool, with firends and cousins, and catching up on family projects around home. It is a good time to relax, recover and renew ourselves.
