Last Hurrah! Wish you were here!

Well, it is back to school time for me next week, and the kids the week after. So, we took our last camping trip of the summer, and went over to Mt. Princeton. We had planned to go to Rocky Mt. National Park and meet up with friends, but plans changed at the last minute, as they sometimes do. So we went somewhere closer to home and less likely to be crowded.

Above is the view of Mt. Princeton and Agnes Vaille falls from our campsite. Taken by Anna.

Agnes Vaille Falls, which was about 30 minute hike up from our campsite.

We discovered that the Mt. Princeton area along Chalk Creek is every bit as beautiful as RMNP. We were abel to enjoy the scenery, go 4X4ing and visited 3 ghost towns. We went to St. Elmo, Hancock and Romley. There were several old buildings and mining ruins to be seen, as well as beautiful scenery.

Here we are after setting up our trailer at Chalk Lake campground near Mt. Princeton.

This is one of the mines ruins near Hancock, taken by Anna. Below is the top of the school at St. Elmo. There were jsut too many more to share them all.

Chalk Lake, where we spent some time fishing and watching the beavers do their busy work.

Finally, we have had a bit of company this summer. Recently, we have had Lori's cousin Cynthia here visiting from Ventura. We have been having fun getting reaquainted and showing her around Colorado this week.

So, as summer draws to a close, we look forward to another school year. I will be in Monday to begin putting my room back together for another class. I wonder what our last year at Canon will bring? I'm sure you'll be able to read about it here next month!

so how are the first weeks going?? We are at the end of week 4 and so far so good. Have one little genious that thinks he must comment non-stop on everything I say, sometimes even as I say it...and one genious that has already missed 7, count them, 7 days of school, fully 1/4th of the school year and then some already...and she wondered why she had zeros on her progress report. Seriously. But only two...I can do that.

Love you all!

Califan2 - I probably do, but which Kim are you? The days whe The Door was the thing to do after OHS football games was a blast. I have often thought we need something like that now, here. Send me your e-mail and I will respond.
