State Fair Here We Come!!!

We have just finished looking up all the requirements to enter Anna's dollhouse in the state fair next month! Wish us luck! The dollhouse was built in the early 1970's by her grandpa Lyle, and Anna inherited it in 2003. The 1/12 model country farmhouse has been furnished in various ways over the last 27 years by Lori, and now Anna. They are putting the finishing touches on it to get it ready to show. Grandpa Lyle would be proud!
Come look for it at the Colorado State Fair! If it places, it will be shown, and if not...at least she will have the experience of trying. Watch this blg for updates later in August.

SAA Pool saves the day!

90 again today...but we beat the heat a bit!
We just spent two wonderful hours at our local outoor (a novelty in Colorado!) community pool. What a blast. And there were a couple of teenage boys there who really impressed me with their behavior. Oh, sure, they were into the roughhousing , as far as the lifeguards would let it go, but they were so respectful of the safety of our younger kids. There was even one time one of the boys said a curse word, and then caught himself immediately apologized to the lifeguard and everyone around. I have not seen such community respectful behavior from teens in a long time. (Now, don't I sound like an old man?) Anyway, it was restorative of my faith in the the younger generations.

I was also reflecting on our recent trip, in June, to Sacramento, the Redwoods and Chico. As I sat by the pool, I thought of how great our Lord is, in that he provided such a great opporunity to spend time with my bro-in-law and his family. Also, how awesome it was that we were able to reconnect with some friends from here, who had moved to Chico almost 9 years ago. The Fellowship in the Lord is awesome! The people He has brought into our lives, and allowed us to stay connected with despite time and distance is incredible...

Finally, as we returned home, we had a near accident due to a tire failure on our Coleman trailer. God blessed and protected us, once again. The tire we had to change was on the passenger side (out of busy I-80 traffic). The opportnity to change a tire together put us on our knees, literally, on the side of a desert highway, which must have been where God wanted us to pause for a moment. The delay created by the tire incident kept us from being caught in a road closure caused by a large brush fire near Elko, NV. And, in the end, we were still blessed to get the last available room in Wendover, Utah at 10 that night. We got an earlier start the next morning, after a good nights rest, and got home at 9 that night to greet Lori's cousin, Jen, who had moved into our home while we were away.

Jen came here to take a new job, and has since bought a house (another amazing story of God's provision...but for another time) and is waiting to move in until a few projects are finished there. Her husband Joe will be joining her in Colorado on this new adventure in about a month, and will be able to work from home. We are praying for them to have many wonderful times here in Colorado, hopefully with us, of course!
