MLK Day Hike

Colorado is nothing if not a land of contrasts...today was no different. Since we had the day off, we spent most of it on projects that needed doing around the house. But then, the warm afternoon sunshine ( it was 60+ today!) prompted us to pack up the family and go over to Red Rocks Canyon, an old sandstone quarry and ranch turned open space, about 10 minutes drive from our house. We took a 3 mile hike that looped through parts of the canyon and over the hill to the other side. We had a blast, and wore the dog out, too!

First Snow of 2009

What would my blog be without the occasional weather report? (Don't answer that!)

Anyway, we did not get much snow in December, except in the mountains, despite a few days of unbelievably cold air! And while Becky (or "G-Ma Beck the amazing Wii bowler"as she has come to be known around here) was here, she wished for snow, but none came. We had days in the 50's and sunny, until yesterday afternoon. She flew out at 0'dark thirty this morning with the snow flying! By noon today, we had 6 inches on the ground. We wish you could have stayed another day, Becky!

Christmas Passed...so quickly

Christmas 2008 came and went so fast around here. Although we had two weeks off, and a visit from G-Ma Becky, it just didn't seem long enough. Below are some of the sights of Christmas day and the day after, when Becky arrived and we did the present opening all over again! Lori opening her new laundry room "wet mitten" sign.

Cousin Deb models wrapping ribbons, which can serve as hair ribbons, too! Who knew?
