Proud Moment

While there are many things, (most things, in fact) that my kids do that make me proud, tonight was extra special. Tonight my son completed his second year as a cub scout and was promoted from Bear to Webelos, a major transition. He and seven other boys from his Den made this step tonight.

The Webelos is a two year level, from which he can graduate up to being a boy scout after fifth grade. This is already farther than I ever got, so I just a little proud! One of the great things in scouts is the parents involvement. As part of his ceremony, I got to paint his face with colors symbolic of becoming a webelos in the Pack.

Wes has done many accomplishments, and earned beads, pin, belt loops and patches over the last two years leading up to this point. He has grown in so many areas. Although some of these achievements he would have done on his own, or as part of our family activities or for school projects anyway, it was fun to see him apply them all cumulatively to a positive program like scouts. Yep, I am a proud dad!
